REQUIRED EXPLANATION OF REQUEST
  The Department of Rehabilitation and Correction respectfully requests Controlling Board approval for an agency released competitive opportunity in the not to exceed amount of $237,468.12 from fund 5AF0, ALI 501609 (State and Non-Federal Awards), in FY18, to contract with Louise R. Polster Company, Columbus, Franklin County, to provide the preparation, delivery, training, installation and warranty for the purchase of four food pulpers for use at four different institutions.

 
  This Request for Proposal (RFP) solicited proposals for food pulpers to be used at ORW, LeCI, TCI and ToCI to reduce food waste volumes. Louise R. Polster Company was the lowest bid received out of the two proposals received.

Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW), Marysville, Union County opened in 1916 and houses approximately 2,440 female inmates.

Lebanon Correctional Institution (LeCI), Lebanon, Warren County, opened in 1960, and houses approximately 2,360 male inmates.

Trumbull Correctional Institution (TCI), Leavittsburg, Trumbull County, opened in 1992, and houses approximately 1,408 male inmates.

Toledo Correctional Institution (ToCI), Toledo, Lucas County, opened in 2000, and houses approximately 577 male inmates.

This request is submitted in accordance with Section 127.162 of the Ohio Revised Code.
