North Central State College respectfully requests Controlling Board approval to release capital appropriation in the amount of $122,945.00 from Fund 7034, ALI C38018 (Workforce Based Training & Equipment), in FY20, and an agency released competitive opportunity per R.C. 127.162 to purchase equipment in the amount of $102,955.00 from Anatomage in San Jose, California for the Workforce Based Training & Equipment Regionally Aligned Priorities In Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) project in Richland County.
The capital appropriation will be used to purchase an interactive anatomy visualization table for biology education in Health Sciences and 3D printers in the Engineering program.

Anatomy dissection and Physiology function is a critical exercise in Biology education. This interactive anatomy visualization table will provide in real time an interactive application that allows students to explore the human anatomy the same way that they would be exploring the physical cadaver in the lab, but without having to be in the lab. At this time of COVID19, with the need for social distancing and online college classes, the virtual dissection table will provide the safety required for physical health and still allow the students to complete all Biology labs without having to be on the college campus. The virtual reality dissection table also provides the advantages of embedded Histology slides and lessons for Bioscience a Radiology library of X-rays, CAT scans, MRIs and Ultrasound images Surface palpation and Muscle tables for Physical Therapy students and clinical procedures and instruction for other students.   All faculty and students can gain valuable insight into the human anatomy by running the software on their home computer or within the college's learning management system. The collaboration with all Health Science programs is invaluable to online education.

The table can be used as a tool for collaboration with high schools and career centers as well to augment student online education in the health science field without the class having to leave their home school.
Virtual online education is here and the interactive anatomy visualization table provides college and high school students the opportunity to learn all lab outcomes while never having to be in the lab. This is essential for the future of all health science students and the future of the Nursing, Radiology, Respiratory, Bioscience and Physical Therapy workforce.

The addition of 10 Makergear M2 printers to the Engineering program will help provide advanced technology exposure in a safe environment. The intent of the additional printers is to allow the technology to be placed in individual classrooms. Considering our current health concerns, this distributed model will allow more students to access the printers in greater isolation and control. The printers chosen are compact and robust enough to allow our Manufacturing and Visual Communications access to 3D printing in the classroom and lab as well.

Additionally, if we must move to distance only classes again, we will have the print capacity to allow students to send designs to a faculty member to print and send to the student. This will allow Engineering's design, build, test model to continue. This model allows our students to experience firsthand product design cycle. Be it face to face or via distance the student will design, build, and validate their individual and teamwork.

The RFP was advertised for bid pursuant to the requirements of the Ohio Revised Code section 153 for the anatomy table. Two bids were submitted for the project. After careful consideration of all the bids received, North Central State College recommends awarding the contract to Anatomage. Three quotes were obtained for the 3D printers to comply with the purchasing policies of North Central State College. Based on the quotes received, North Central State College recommends Makergear LL for this purchase.
